Two Gates

Matthew 7:13-14

“Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it”.

Jesus is not saying here that all that confess in Him and believe in Him are entering the narrow gate. There are two gates…there are two types of people.

The wide gate is for the people that want to get an easy access pass to heaven, those that simply say that they believe and do nothing about it. These people enter through this gate with no knowledge of God or His will. They are doing it so that they can look good to others, “I’m a Christian”, or to give themselves false hope of living for eternity in heaven. This gate requires no effort or discipline, it is an easy road. You can live the same life on this road that you did before you entered into it. Confess Christ as Lord and continue on like nothing ever happened. Keep living for you and denying Him. You don't have to drop anything, no repentance, no submission, no obedience, no holiness, no sacrifice, no cross to bear, no self denial, you just continue on with the crowd and we're all going to heaven because we're all religious and we talk about God and we all pray and we all go to church……..(many other things you could put here to look like you are following Him)

The narrow gate is just that….narrow. It is a pressing gate. There is no wiggle room ;) There is no room for your life and the life for Him. If you want to enter this gate, which leads to the kingdom of heaven, you must believe in Him, confess you’re a sinner, repent of your sins and die to self. Your will has to be put to death and you must live your life in His will…“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven”. You no longer live to please your flesh….you live to please the LORD. Your life should be filled with a desire to do His will, not yours. It’s not an easy road,”…. difficult is the way which leads to life…”
